Every year NICO Pension Services Company holds Trustees Seminars for its clients with a purpose of keeping them up to date with pension issues but also interacting with them. This year’s seminar was dubbed “Client Engagement Seminar” with the theme “YOU ARE IN SAFE HANDS”. The change in the name of the seminar was basically to assure clients that everything is in order after the fire accident.

The seminars were conducted from 4^th December to 7^th December 2018. It started with Mzuzu on 4^th December at Mzuzu Hotel where about 60 clients participated. Among the presenters were Dr. Lillian Moyo the General Manager for NICO Pensions who mainly focused on the Profile of NICO Pension Services Company, Mr. Peter Kambalame of Reserve Bank of Malawi who presented on Pension Landscape, Mr. Zindaba Mbekeani of NICO Asset Managers, he presented on Investment and Mr. Steven Kanyoza of NICO Life Insurance company who presented on Funeral Management.   

The seminars were then held in Lilongwe on 5^th Dec at BICC, Blantyre on 6^th Dec at Victoria Hotel, and last was Zomba on 7^th Dec Ku Chawe. Generally the clients were satisfied with the contents of the presentations.

As per NICO group tradition of holding a joint end of year party for all its subsidiaries, this year’s party was held on 14^th December 2018 at College of Medicine Sports Complex Hall. A total of 8 subsidiary companies including NICO Holdings participated in the party.

To kick start the event was the opening speech by the Group MD who mainly thanked the staff of the NICO Group for working together during the trying time when NICO House was gutted by fire on 5^th October 2018. He reassured the staff of his continued support.

This year’s party was full of surprises as among others for the first time a guest artist performed apart from the usual live band. The guest artist was PIKSY. Another surprise was the winner of the first prize of the raffle draw. The winner came from NICO Life Insurance and it was his first time to be at the party. The Group MD also went away with several consolation prizes as he won several times.

NICO Life and NICO Pension hosted a cocktail for all brokers that they do business with. The cocktail, was held at ICON at NICO Holdings Chibisa House in Blantyre, on 7^th November 2018 and is also part of NICO’s annual broker engagement forums. The event was held to engage brokers and also provide a platform for the companies to get feedback on operations and services this year moreover after the fire incident.

This is to inform all stakeholders that there has been a fire at NICO General, NICO Life and NICO Pensions offices at NICO House, corner of Stewart Street and Haile Salassie Avenue in Blantyre today,5th October, 2018.
