NICO Pension, a leading financial institution in Malawi, has demonstrated its commitment to improving women’s health regarding cervical cancer. The company recently donated MK6 million to the Global AIDS Interfaith Alliance (GAIA), a non-profit organization dedicated to efforts toward raising awareness in the fight against cervical cancer in Nsanje District.
Cervical cancer remains a significant health concern, especially in underserved areas like Nsanje District where many women lack access to essential screening and treatment services due to financial constraints.
Recognizing the urgency of addressing this issue, NICO Pension stepped forward with a generous donation of MK6 million. This financial support will be utilized in two critical areas:
- Biopsy Tests and Treatment: The funds will directly benefit patients by covering the costs of cervical cancer biopsy tests and necessary treatments.
- Campaign Funding: GAIA conducts awareness campaigns and community sensitization exercises to educate women about cervical cancer prevention
At the handover ceremony, Mr. Nelson Khozomba, Project Manager for GAIA, expressed heartfelt gratitude for NICO Pension’s support. “We are deeply grateful for NICO Pension’s generous support. This donation will significantly enhance our ability to provide essential biopsy tests and treatments for cervical cancer patients in Nsanje District.” He emphasized.
Stella Phanga, Relationship Manager at NICO Pension, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to GAIA’s cause, “By supporting GAIA’s cervical cancer prevention initiatives, we aim to empower women with the knowledge and resources they need to protect their health.” She said.
The program is ongoing, and the funds will be allocated to essential activities supporting GAIA’s initiatives for 2024.
